Introducing our 2017 – 2019 President’s logo, to support the #shinebright theme for our inaugural Circle Year on the Red Dot.
Origin
The inaugural President of Ladies Circle Singapore, Nadia van Dam, has a passion for nautical themes and adventures. Her logo was inspired by this theme, as well as childhood memories of holidays with her grandparents in Umhlanga Rocks (South Africa). In this coastal city, her love for the ocean, it’s creatures big and small, and the sights, smells and sounds of the seas was born.
#shinebright
The 2017 – 2019 theme, #shinebright, is inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s quote, “We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle.” Just as the stars light up a dark night, lighthouses shine the brightest light – guiding ships out at sea to safety and offering hope to sailors.
We are lighthouses rather than lifeboats – we do not rescue but instead help others find their way to shore. Don’t forget that you might be the lighthouse in someone’s storm! We don’t hold fellow Circlers, or others in our community, back like an anchor, nor do we transport anybody like a sail. We show the way, like a guiding light. We are the peace in each other’s troubled seas.
Words of Wisdom
“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining, they just shine!” – Dwight L. Moody
May your light shine bright so others know where to find you. Ladies Circle Singapore is looking forward to officially being chartered into Ladies Circle International and let our Singaporean lights shine bright all over the world!
Absolutely awesome. Nadia.. you have made us proud and we share your sentiments about the ocean and the lighthouse. Very, very proud grandparents. Bill & Nell. #shinebright...
